History
The English as a Second Language (ESL) ministry is a "stop-gap" measure designed to assist internationals to learn English skills in order to survive and function in America. Whether a person speaks little to no English, the opportunities of learning and speaking the language, exploring the American culture and customs, meeting new friends, and ,much more lend to assist in integrating our friends into the life of America. Two sessions throughout the year are offered, September through November and January through May. The following levels are available each Wednesday evening:
- Beginner (knows little to no English)
- Intermediate (knows how to read English but not speak it well)
- Advanced (knows how to read/speak English but needs to improve on conversation)
The ratio of teachers to student remains small enough to offer individual attention while large enough to allow each student to benefit from a variety of experiences from other classmates. Classes are held in conjunction with our evening services on Wednesdays. Nursery and child care are offered to those in attendance through our AWANA (ages 3-6th grade) and nursery (ages 0-24 months) ministry.
